A win in Charlotte would put us in the top 20 easily.

I think it's interesting that the team picked to win their SoCon division (WCU) got the same number of votes as a team picked to finish second in its league (UNCA). Apples and oranges maybe, but then you've got Davidson which is actually IN the top 25 - no doubt based on reputation than anything - yet Davidson is picked, what, third? fourth? in its division? Anywho... just riffing on this poll.

Just a little comparison sake, to maybe put the Brevard loss in some kind of perspective.

College of Charleston 94, USC Aiken 92 (Overtime) Granted, USC Aiken is a lot better than Brevard. But still, Charleston is picked to win the SoCon.
Georgia Tech 84, Indiana University of Pennyslvania 76 (Overtime)
Le Moyne 82, Syracuse 79
UCLA 72, Concordia 71 (UCLA only led for two minutes of the entire game. Hit a three with sixteen seconds left.)

We also lost to Lenoir Rhyne in 2003 the year we won the Big South Tournament.

yeah its less the loss itself I'm concerned with and more how they played... I think we lost to Mars Hill or someone back in 2006/07 as well? But i could be wrong...

I don't think we ever lost to Mars Hill. But we did lose to Montreat in 2005-2006. That was the year KJ didn't play. We knew we were going to be bad without a point guard. (Literally, we didn't have a point guard.) We also only practice for like two days without KJ before the exhibition game.

Not to change the subject back to the Brevard game because we already have a thread for that, but you have to think that JP and Dickey are going to turn it around. Lord let's hope so.

We did lose to Mars Hill in 2007. They hit a shot at the buzzer. And we had two point guards for that game as well. That season didn't turn out to be God-awful. Made the Big South tourney semis and finished I think 5th in the conference. I think I remember the Big South being pretty solid that year though.

Lenoir Rhyne - 2002-2003 (t-3rd regular season, won conf tourney)
Brevard - 2004-2005 (third in conference, lost in opening round)
Montreat - 2005-2006 (bad)
Mars Hill - 2006-2007 (5th in conference, lost in semis)
Brevard - 2009-2010 (?)

If the past is any indication, we now have a 25% chance of going to the Dance.

Yeah it probably was Montreat i was remembering... And I do remember how bad that year was... I believe Bryan had also already transferred in (at least for the spring) but obviously wasn't playing yet...

Likely to drop some after last nights loss though.. wasn't a close game so the pollsters will note final score not the rest..

You'll always drop after a loss, point is until the next poll comes out - WCU is number #6. Did not note that Wofford was in the others receiving votes?

Cat's.. I know this thread exists from once upon a time when it mattered to UNCA fans.. but don't you think you could just post the topic in the WCU area of this board.. I don't believe any of us care any longer about this post & if folks still do care that area would be a good spot for it & would be available for folks to comment further... Thanks!

Man, you just want things you way don't you?

I didn't start this thread.... and as long as it exists, I'm not going to post information about this thread elsewhere. If you don't like this thread, don't read it. You've already tried to bully me into stop posting new topics in the WCU folder about individual WCU games... well this time - you lose.

Why don't you place you time and energy into posting on topics that someone might care about, rather than what and where I post on this board. As long as I'm a member of this board, and don't break any board rules.... I intend on posting when and where I desire, if that pisses you off.... even better !!!

It's just funny to me that folks , especially you cats, are always on the defensive side of things when I post suggestions.. that's really all it was- a suggestion.. I even tried really hard to say thank you & you still took it all wrong..

I think that's funny...

Maybe you should reevaluate how you come off to people then..... maybe you should consider that you should stop acting like a total jerk-off know it all, and folks might be more receptive to your "suggestions".

ohhhhhhhh... you got me there... you win..

What exactly is the prize anyways.. oh that's right.. NOTHING!!

You act like there's winners/losers here or that I'm picking on everyone or bullying folks (on the internet?? How's that work anyways??) or maybe you're just whining, I dunno.. I am opinionated.. others here, including yourself are as well, we don't have to agree- we seldom do anyways.. you've been here long enough to know that I am antagonistic & tend to rub folks wrong at times, but don;t kid youself into thinking that ALL of my posts are that way- clearly that would be incorrect.. I don't own this board nor do I pretend to, I make suggestions like every other member here & have an opinion.. if you don't like it- Why do you come here?? You're not a UNCA fan, you've done a great job of promoting the WCU board from what I gather, so if my little ol opinion bothers you so very much- again, I'm not sure why you stay or consistently come back at me.. others here ignore me- why not you? I'm not implying that you have to leave either, so don't twist this post either- it's rather entertaining stirring the WCU pot, we will probably do that whether you're here or not just like every other fan board out there.. Again- you're taking things awfully personally here.. maybe you/WhatAJoke & Ktrain can meet & gang up on me- then maybe you'll win!!

Is that the sound of new car depreciation???

Nope... It's just WCU's ranking dropping a few more notches this week after losing to "arch-rival" Applachian State...

Hey cats, having a mid-major top 25 is like having a "Fat Chicks of 2010' calendar. If you aint in the top 25, really what does it matter? Neither of us are, but I dont want my school to aspire to be mid-major. I want the dance, and the real top 25, the rest is just crap to make the other schools feel important. I mean really, Northern Iowa is ranked higher than Gonzaga? CMON MAN, that whole list is a sham, who votes on it?
..today you are bulldogs. Which means every other bulldog is your brother. You will all go out into the world...some of you will not come back. Bulldogs die, thats what were here for. But the Bulldog Pride will live forever...which means YOU live forever.

Mid-major coaches vote on it.

I think UNI is actually better than Gonzaga... but yeah with Gonzaga being ranked I think #8 in the nation overall, it's kind of hard to justify them not being #1 in the Mid-Major poll.
