I'll say we drop a game we shouldn't drop, 6-5 non-conference. I suspect that will be Campbell.

As always.. Cats/WhatAJoke post their Can't predictions here on our board.. must be the bi-polar side of life...

UNCA alum...Dickey had a stress fracture he played on towards the end of the year- he had surgery after the season ended- hasn't be able to do much on it this summer- hopefully that means he's been shooting though- we'll see!! Shouldn't affect him by the time the season starts so long as it's properly healed, but obviousuly limited him from some development this summer...

Otherwise the freshmen came in town last Thursday & everyone should be here now.. I'll try to check out some pick up games & see who actually worked out this summer & got better!!!

Well, put that on the [long] list of things I didn't know. Hopefully, it is fully healed and won't hamper any further development.

I saw in the AC-T that students have started to move in. There was a nice picture of both Rockys greeting the new freshmen. That victorian bulldog might be the best marketing tool our university has ever employed.

Actually... the joke is that you're still signing into this board with 2 different screen names trying to pretend that we haven't (repeatedly) called you out for your bipolar tendencies & that you're one in the same person...

GoUNCA- I don't post our injuries on here during the season for obvious reasons... but I'm usually aware of what's going on with people for the most part..

I wouldn't have it any other way, I didn't mean to imply I was wanting for that sort of information. I was more just commenting on how out of the loop I am. The health status of any individual is between them and the health care professionals treating them. It is theirs to disclose as they wish.

As for The Joke Cats' prediction, I actually thought they were predicting the WCU football record, which isn't a stretch because I think that was their exact record last year (give or take a game). The soccer teams play 8 and 10 non-conference games each and there is no way the baseball team plays that few non-con games, so the latter part of the message makes zero sense.... :o

FIrst impressions from campus...

11 of our guys made significant improvements from this past spring in their strength test (185lbs max reps then repeat after 5 mintues rest) & their mile times.. so the guys seemed to work hard this summer on their individual development.. including a 17 lb weight gain (muscle) for Mr. Stubbs & he looks physically impressive which is hard for me to have pictured at points last year.. thought you all might want to know since we know that position will be of major interest to us all this year...

I think my jaw dropped a little when I read that. That's by far the best thing I have read all week. 11 out of 16 isn't too bad (68.75%). Isn't too bad at all.

You guys can jump on the Stubbs bandwagon (current population: 1) whenever you see fit. It's been getting kind of lonely up here anyway.

I'm not jumping off the prudence wagon just yet. It's not even September yet. But I assure you I'll be the first to do an about face when the time comes. :D

Well... I'm certainly not ready to do cartwheels & back flips.. I am pleased by his physical improvement so maybe he deserves a cookie at best but no awards are to be given just yet...

The immeasurable LACK OF HEART that he often displays has always been my concern with Stubbs anyways.. by default (which means he's 6'8") he has played in games he had no business being part of... so his size & natural build, even if they are improved, are not of question.. the first elbow he takes in the chest & his response to that contact & physical play by the likes of RU, HP, and WU will either make or break my opinion of his nature for whether he has truly improved or just looks good... his efforts seem focused over the summer so it's a start at least...

"You can't teach that size"..... So i'm officially on the bandwagon for this year....so make it 2 of us.

Certainly we need to see more heart and ability to bang around a little bit -- but maybe some of that will come with being more comfortable, stronger, and more confident that he can bang ?? Seems to me those other things should give him more confidence, now...there's also the possiblity that he watched guys like kosta koufas entirely too much (formerly of Ohio State)... I dunno..I guess we'll see. Two years in though, I'd expect the mentality to be there....Especially if he has now become more physically impressive.

Anyone seen Hobbs at all and how is he looking? Talk about bandwagon....I'm definitely on that one. Kinda disappointed -- but, a kid like that, not sure anyone expected him to come out as a freshman and be taking over games..... I'll be interested to see if we get some good production out of him this year.

Which Hobbs bandwagon is that...

1. "The most action I saw was JW's nuts when he cleared me in the dunk contest opening night" bandwagon
2. "I'm so slow on my feet that Matt Kittrell & Eric Stubbs looked like All-Americans in practice against me" bandwagon
3. "I got pinned by 185lb bar benching last year" bandwagon (He lifted 185 4x Monday though so hey it's improvement right?)
4. "I never showed up to play pick up against Ohio State guys all summer long" bandwagon
5. "I'm sure glad I'm tall- this college basketball stuff pays off " bandwagon
6. "Even Eddie knows he should have red-shirted me last year" bandwagon
7. "Now that DJ's here- I'm really screwed" bandwagon

Take your pick or maybe I missed something.... Or maybe I'm rooting for him to prove me wrong.. I'd be ok with that but I'm not banking on it!!

Ooooouch. Seething pessimism. You must really hate the roster updates optimism, "Player of the future for the Bulldogs..." Or maybe that means Eddie will redshirt him this year.

That would be the bandwagon i'm on... The "he's 7'2" and the only 7-footer on the roster' bandwagon...

I get it what your saying.... But being an eternal optimist....I hold out hope.

Well gee.... considering the Cats won 16 games last season, that's generous of you.
We were 11-2 at home in the Ramsey Center, with 16 home dates this season (including the dogs).

He also got the starting lineup wrong. No chance we start John Williams, Eric Stubbs, AND DJ Cunningham.

I think Cunningham will be coming off the bench. If Biedenbach played Garland and Smithson together, he'll be starting Dickey and Primm in the backcourt.
