I really hope we get the Hornsby kid. Would provide some good publicity for the program.

AND THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS.... SOME THINGS WILL NEVER CHANGE.

Just can't let Bruce find out that Coach B is a Republican!

Hartman said Monday he chose UNCA over Gardner-Webb. Hartman said his decision came down to three things: location, location, location.

"It was definitely the Asheville area," Hartman said. "There was just something about it."

Thank you, Asheville.

I really would like to have Hornsby too. I have no idea how much time he will get at Oak Hill, so we could end up on the short end eventually. I do like that we have recruited him this early. It would have been easy for Eddie to be quiet and want him to stay in Hampton Roads to help limit his exposure, but he apparently was very encouraging, which is another reason why I like Eddie. Speaking of Oak Hill, I saw Austin Alecxih's brother on TV the other day as Pitt lost to NC State.

We've been on Hornsby early plain & simple because of BC... Brett is a personal friend of Bruce Hornsby & has been for several years now... BC also coached the boys for several summers now at Oak Hill camps- there wasn't much deterent for the boys to go to the Hill Coach Smith has been in Asheville several times when Bruce has performed at the Biltmore Estate- trust me when I say it's been a good time to hang out with these guys backstage!! I'm sure Eddie's been encouraging, however, BC is the link with Hornsby and Oak Hill in no uncertain terms...

Glad to see that the 'ville helped with Toles as well.. sometimes it's hard for 18-19 year old folks to appreciate the area..

Alum- I wasn't expecting the oral committment to make the website, but when his NLI rolls in during this first signing period like Jaron's did last year- don't expect the news to hit the website then either!!!

Yeah, I really didn't think Eddie was the driving force on this one either. Knowing very little about BCs coaching ability, if he can consistently get Oak Hill's sixth man...give him a pay raise or sign him up as the UNCA's version of Jimbo Fisher. :D

What is this all about?

http://www.news-record.com/content/2009 ... commitment

GREENSBORO — UNCG recently added a men's basketball commitment for the 2010 class.

Toles Hartman, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound power forward from North Cross School in Roanoke, Va., has given a verbal commitment to coach Mike Dement's program, according to the recruiting Web site Rivals.com .

Hartman averaged 10 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game last season as a junior. He also drew recruiting interest from Gardner-Webb, UNC-Asheville, Appalachian State and Charleston Southern.

yeah i'm thinking rivals just mistakenly put a G instead of an A in the database or something like that.

trust the roanoke paper with the actual quotes from toles a lot more. but wouldn't mind some reassurance.

If you google Toles Hartman in google news you can see a story on October third retracting the first announcement. I couldn't read it because they have some kind of software my Firefox doesn't like.

Other than maybe playing time is there any reason to ever choose High Point over Asheville???? Basketball wise i mean. I get baseball and maybe a few other sports where they have clear advantages in facilitites. They have a beautiful campus now, and lots of money, and a huge panther in front of their gym...But the gym is awful, the city is terrible, are they planning on building a new gym or something that I don't know about?

It shouldn't be that he was picking High Point over us in terms of facility, city, money and certainly not quality of statue. I was on campus the other weekend and that is one really imposing building on the hill. I imagine he saw Hobbs and Cunningham on the roster and backed out because he wanted to play center as opposed to playing forward. I'm not familiar with their incoming class, but when Cruz Daniels leaves after this year he is going to be the tallest guy on their roster (and Morris leaves after next year). I imagine he'll see the court there before he would in Asheville. Cherry can also promise the moon right now because he doesn't have a head coaching record.

That, or...... he really likes the fratastic type, a future in building furniture, or was a big UNC-Chapel Hill fan over the past few years. I'm putting money on the fratastic one.

Well High Point is a lot closer to where he currently lives as well. Cherry seems like a good salesman and it's easy to get caught up in the "Let's turn this program around" hype whenever he hasn't had to put a finished product on the floor yet. He probably also noticed that our offense is guard dominated whereas Cherry can tell him whatever he wants to hear.

Who knows? It's not the end of the world. We could have used him, but it looks like High Point needed him a lot more.

Hello... Message Board Stalker!! Why don't you just keep posting about me on some other board.. Someone's in need of some therapy...

Yes- I do know things!! Also unlike you- I don't pretend to be more than one person and I don't see dead people...

Shouldn't you be spending your time on ASU's board talking junk.. oh wait- they've owned WCU in pretty much every major sport so I guess you feel like because WCU actually beat UNCA this year you can come here running your mouth about.... NOTHING.. Since ASU is celebrating their SoCon football championship during halftime of that game tomorrow & I'm sure you're all pissed about that & everything since you're football team is so competetive- but you really don't need to take it out on folks here..

Run along pussy... cat.. or keep stalking me on the WU board- wow that's pathetic!

I saw that we have an offer out to a junior guard Terry Whisnant out of Cherryville. He is averaging 30.9 ppg and is apparently getting a bunch of looks (has a UNC-Charlotte) offer as well.

How absurd can you get... me stalking you????

....there was a post in the WU game thread directing everyone to the WU board... so I decided to take a look to see what the fuss was about..... of course, you were there posting your drivel, trying to intimidate some WU poster.... so I called you out on it....PERIOD.

Once again... the only pathetic thing is YOU and your attempts to intimidate someone every where you post.

Nice edit... didn't ASU sweep the kitties today in both basketball games.. & to add insult to injury they brought out their football team to celebrate the SoCon championship.. how did that feel for a team that went 1-7 in conference and 2-9 overall?? No wonder you didn't travel from GA to Boone... Go over to the ASU board and talk some pussy... cat...

Actually... try getting the link you posted to the CoC message board/schedule/ & athletics website correct on your own board before talking sh!t to me here... it's the Clemson board link you posted dumba$$.. Why we would expect anything less from a WCU fan I dunno... Nice effort though... That loss today must be rough.. Buzz is 11-0.. those are football numbers at WCU last I checked..

So to catch me up, we have picked up 2 players for next year's class (G Trent Meyer; F Toles Hartman). We are probably going to pick up one more, which would help to round out our class by class breakdown. Or more? If we put out several offers how many do we honor (and are we obligated to them)?

Hopefully the local is a Corey Hensley from Enka.
