Class of 2010. We have an offer out to Georges MaNgoue out of Lewisville, NC. He also has offers from Elon and High Point.

We'll certainly be in need the height MaNgoue offers if he signs. Also offered by Western, Central and Winston-Salem State. He would also keep our international streak going as a native of Cameroon.

I'm thinking we should be able to beat out Western, Central and WSSU. High Point and Elon might be tough. It's easier for new coaches to make their case and usually promise early playing time. Plus they are a lot closer to Winston-Salem than UNC Asheville, which might have an impact even though he is from Africa.

He goes to a good high school and, being from Africa, I'm going to go ahead and stereotype him as being a pretty smart guy and somebody that will factor in education as well as athletics.... so unless he blows up and some bigger schools come calling I think it will come down to us three.

well yeah.... i dunno, i'm assuming this is some sort of re-enactment of, maybe, how not to act in class? Or something like that? I just think its hilarious he is wearing all state gear -- and well everything about the picture is hilarious... I would imagine the NC State gear was part of the skit. He's obviously a diehard Wolfpack fan (and would routinely rank them about 8 spots higher than he should have when they were actually good enough to be in the Top 25 poll), but I don't ever recall ever seeing him wear NC State gear around UNCA. He rocks the too short sweat pants and UNCA collared shirt about 98% of the time.

Toles hasn't committed yet.. word is that he's told JP that he is going to though.. time will tell. I hear he's athletic with some ball skills & is good around the basket.. Plays hard all the time, like J-Ride..


We also have an official visit set up for next weekend.. NC (Winston-Salem) kid -6'8" 230 lbs- not as skilled as Toles but a banger, raw, strong athlete type...

So let me get this straight. Theoretically we only lose Sean Smith this year, right? So how many scholarships do we have to play with? The next year we have to replace Williams and Stubbs. If we sign two this year will we be down one next year?

We have 2 scholarships to give this year as Sean is the lone senior- we signed 3 guys this year in Lane, Cunningham & Alecxih.. so we never filled one of the 4 that we lost last year- Reid, Kenny, Donovan, Rashaad...

Found this video on youtube of MaNgoue. I'm not a great judge of high school talent, but he looks to hit the boards well. Doesn't seem to have the best touch (hard to tell). I would like to have another big guy (big surprise, I know).

Well the 6'8" 230lb guys that runs the court well, jump out of the gym, and finish everything around the rim aren't really going to be looking at UNCA. At least not yet.

He was honestly a lot better than I thought he was going to be. Not athletic at all, but he already understands that he is a big man and doesn't try to float out to the perimeter. Had some good aggressive moves around the basket and didn't seem afraid to toss his weight around. You can eventually teach him how to finish in the paint, but you can't teach 6'8" 230.

Good visit from MaNgoue who left today.. he's going to visit another school this week for the 2nd time & make his decision from what I'm hearing.. He's an academic oriented kid so we should hold a distinct advantage over that other university so we'll know shortly..

I visited Western Carolina because I just wanted to see it.

Good to hear about the commit. I'm thinking Toles might fill the hybrid swing man role, assuming he has the athleticism.

Sad that we have to get these kinds of updates from RU fans (thanks VABigPoppa!) or the fishwrap in VA instead of our own website... don't fret they'll post this committment in about 3-6 months- let me guess we're waiting for it to be in writing (which is the only logical reason) or grades or scores or actual admission or some other lame excuse...
