Matt Kern hired as the Men's Coach

Matt Kern has been hired as the Mens Soccer coach. He has been a goal keepers coach at UNCA for the past couple of years and before that was the head coach of the Wofford Mens team. This happened pretty much like I thought it would. It seems we did a pretty good search and found a womens coach with a pretty good resume. Kern on the other hand was at Wofford for 7 seasons and went 29-98-8 (5-47-2 SoCon).

Not exactly a great track record or even mediocre. That is just plain bad. Maybe something has changed, but it looks like we hired a holdover mens coach to tide us over and really went after if on the womens side. Not that I disagree with the strategy. Hiring two coaches simultaneously is tough for a school like us.
